How To Install Home Assistant VM

Home Assistant is a free and open source software solution for home automation

While you can run this on a cheap, low power computer, if that computer breaks you could end up waiting a long time for a replacement

In addition, Home Assistant receives regular updates, some of which can result in your home automation no longer working

As you get more involved in home automation, either of these situations can lead to frustration

XCP-ng is a free and open source Enterprise grade hypervisor we can use to take full advantage of the benefits of virtualising Home Assistant:
If the computer hardware breaks, we can quickly recover and run the VM on another computer
If an update patch breaks Home Assistant, we can quickly rollback to a snapshot and continue as if nothing happened
